Cooperative Sagebrush Initiative - Working Groups & Committees
Below you will find information related to each of the four CSI committees and working groups. Membership and participation in any of these groups is open to all who wish to contribute to the groups' objectives. Contact the committee chairs or working group coordinator to get involved.
CSI Assurances Committee
This committee will develop CSI positions and responses on issues related to regulatory assurances that facilitate participation in sagebrush conservation activities. It will be charged with ensuring that there is broad agreement among the CSI partners for these positions and responses. The committee will coordinate communication of these positions and information with relevant agencies, officials, and other partners. Partnership Council
The Partnership Council is charged with making necessary decisions on behalf of all the CSI partners. This Council is made up of members representing the major interest groups, and is charged with establishing necessary committees, and managing any funds associated with CSI.

Projects Working Group
The Projects Working Group will work to identify the opportunities and criteria for habitat conservation and restoration, and develop a system for monitoring outcomes.

Partnership and Outreach Working Group
This group is responsible for identifying and communicating with critical partners for the CSI, as well as developing an outreach strategy to inform key audiences of the Initiative's purpose and achievements.

MEMO ON CSI OPPORTUNITIES STEMMING FROM WYOMING SAGE GROUSE TASK FORCE RECOMMENDATIONS (September 27, 2007) This memo from Michael Bean to the CSI Incentives Working Group explores possible implications and opportunities opened by the Wyoming Sage Grouse Task Force recommendations to Governor Dave Freudenthal.
CREDIT WORKING GROUP RECOMMENDATIONS TO CSI PARTNERSHIP COUNCIL (September 11, 2007) Following a discussion among the credit methodology subgroup, several recommendations were put forward for trying out Credit metrics in the context of CSI demonstration projects.
DRAFT PROCESS FOR QUANTIFYING SAGEBRUSH CREDITS (Updated August 2007) This draft paper was prepared by Jon Haufler, Jay Hestbeck, Lowell Suring, and Michael Bean discussing a potential methodology for quantifying credits and debits associated and development actions affecting the sage brush ecosystem. This paper is a draft prepared for the purpose of stimulating discussion. It is likely that it will undergo significant revision in response to comments received. Neither CSI nor anyone else has agreed to implement the ideas discussed in the paper. If you share the paper with others, please ensure that they understand its nature.
ALTERNATIVE SUGGESTIONS FOR SAGEBRUSH CREDIT VALUATION (August 2007) This draft was prepared by Jay Hestbeck. It builds from the methodology described above but presents a possible variation for establishing a baseline site condition utilizing field surveys.
LETTER TO US DEPARTMENT OF THE INTERIOR ON FIVE REGULATORY ASSURANCE OPPORTUNITIES (December 28, 2006) This letter from CSI to DOI conveys an interest in jointly exploring regulatory assurances to help alleviate perceived disincentives for voluntary sagebrush conservation activities.
